Hello!
I recently accidently deleted an old printer, Epson Stylus Photo 785EPX
Ink Jet Printer, in Mac OS X 10.5.8 on an old MacBook Pro (2008; 15"). I
cannot figure out how to readd it manually without having the physical
printer connected through its USB cable. Do I really need to have it
connected to do this? I rarely use it and do not have access to it at
the moment.
Thank you in advance. :)

Oh I see now. : ) There probably is a way to add an entry for that particular printer without having the printer connected, but I'm betting it would be technically complicated, if possible at all. Because that printer is rarely used when I am in that area physically,
and didn't know it was still used. :(

Oh. I was hoping to do that before I connect the printer so I don't have
to worry about it. :P Oh well.

OK OK. In Windows and Linux, I could do it in advance. :)

You can in OS X too. But there's probably no point to it until you need
it. (Same as Linux. Windows - well, some printers and Windows are well
behaved, some...).

Make sure printer is connected. The do the following: First go to Printer Makers Website and download the latest print driver. Then: Go to System Preferences. Then: open Printer Fax Control panel. If there is listing delete that printer. Then quit . Now install the new print driver (downloaded). Now reopen the Printer/Fax Control panel. Have it look for the Printer. when it shows up go to menu choice Printer and make Default. Now your printer is ready. It's actually easier to do than the way I am explaining it. -- Phillip M. Update: I meant not to say driver in the newsgroup thread title/subject.
I never had to install one since Mac OS X 10.5 included it already. I
just need to readd the printer without the printer connected.
