Or is it just your gut feeling? there have been many such tests, some of which were posted to this thread. some ssd makers offer as much as a 10 year warranty, which is unheard of for hard drives, because they know it will last longer.

A friend of mine who plays with extremely large mathematical matrices - tens of gigabytes sized ones - and runs computations 24x7 - used to wear his hard drives out in just under the warranty period. Cost benefit showed it was in fact cheaper.
