Of course, the Public Holiday in question has been messed about with before. It used to be called Whitsun and it was often on about 4th June. Funny that. Personally I circumvented the problem by not displaying the 'hard-wired' Public Holidays and instead put them in my user file (or whatever it is called). Why we need two Holidays in May is completely beyond my comprehension anyway and like Easter and Christmas, any religious associations are becoming an anachronism in this modern world where perhaps we would benefit from Public Holidays spread more evenly through the year. I remember why these get messed about with now: most politicians couldn't find the nose on their own face. November 5th would be a great public holiday and a reminder to 600 tossers that they could be sitting on a bomb so had better behave themselves and do only Good Things. Didn't someone suggest an extra Bank Holiday for Maggie's birthday? That would be twice a year I'd want to burn an effigy on a bonfire. -- Tim Hill of timil.com . . . * supports TFT & shares in cheaper ethical telecoms http://tjrh.eu/phone * has a genuine & spam-proof address for Usenet http://www.invalid.org.uk/ * accepts incoming email: substitute postmaster@ for tim@ ...
