Actually, what may have contributed to some losses on the Democrats' side is the insistence from their establishment in refusing candidates in any way left of the right like AOC or Sanders. Remember how Hillary was picked over Sanders, in an election where what may have guided sufficient votes was a desire to "break with the establishment"? Whatever candidate they pick is going to be attacked in the same way by the far-right painting them as "socialist", "incompetent", "commie", etc. So they may as well choose someone competent who represents a departure from the current mess, there's no point in trying to appease these cries, they'll exist no matter who the candidate is. > Harris wasn't so much incompetent as translucent like a > jellyfish. Well 'competent' and AOC do not exist in the same sentence. Kristi Noem and AOC are two side of the same coin. She - and the rest of "The Squad" - ARE total disasters. However the young voters don't UNDERSTAND that. Kinda reminds me of the latter 60s with a dozen commie/socialist/hippie 'revolutionaries' screaming loud while REALLY hoping for their dictatorship OF the proletariat. There WAS a 'silent majority' of moderates back then, but NOW ??? The current environment/education ... nobody knows ANYTHING. No history, no future. The sloganeeres RULE 'reality'. Almost every party/faction has a few nutters/extremists. They have apparently read Saul Alinsky's book - agitate and divide - but NEVER get into practical specifics. DO have a copy of that book. The ideal thing is coffee and croissant at 9 a.m. lunch from midday to 3pm, and dinner starting at 8 and going on till midnight, after which hot sex is in order. I wouldn't be > supporting him at the midterms. But who do you support? I voted from Trump. His first term wasn't that impressive although he was fighting off lawfare from every direction. However Harris was out of the question and the Libertarians selected a candidate that even the state LP didn't support. I don't know if the midterms in this state will reflect support for Trump as much as reflect local issues. We have one Senate seat up for grabs. The Democrats are intent on scoring an own goal. The Democratic candidate is not well known or liked. The former Democratic Senator and several other Democrats are endorsing an Independent. I think he'll do better than the actual Democrat. In their finest tradition the LP has declined to support the nominee chosen at their national convention. The District 2 Representative is a safe Republican win. There is an independent stepping on the Democrat there too. I think District 1, where I vote is a safe red too. The Democrat is endorsed by Sanders, AOC, MoveOn, J Street, and others that are hated outside of a couple of liberal cities. I'd predict red wins for the state Senate and House that has little or nothing to do with Trump. I'm not a city resident and the county is sort of a no man's land with three commissioners. I'm not sure if any of them are up for election.
