And how did the Mohicans get that land, and how did the predecessors get that land, and, and ....... Native N.American cultures were heavily centered around the "warrior ethos". Why IS that ? Oh yea, because every other tribe wanted THEIR land/stuff/women. So just QUIT with the "Evil Brits" and "Evil Spanish" and "Evil Frenchies" crap - war and genocide and worse BETWEEN those tribe had been going on for a long LONG time before the White Folks showed up. Even worse south of the border, they were more organized, far larger and more expert use of genocidal evil against the opposition of the moment. The hippie-dippies invented the myth of the wonderful peaceful philosophical native tribes because it served their "Peace & Love" bullshit. Was NEVER like that.

On Sun, 13 Sep 2026 20:59:55 -0400, c186282 wrote: > And how did the Mohicans get that land, and how did the predecessors > get that land, and, and ....... It's a good question where the Algonquians, one tribe of which is the Mohicans, came from. There were many tribes but the thing is they didn't get 'that land'. They were hunter gatherers and were semi nomadic, moving around are the resources changed with the seasons. They did a little farming at the summer camp. The Iroquois were much more structured and settled. Then came the Europeans and the fur trade. The French had allied with the various Algonquin tribes early on since their hunting skills yielded furs. The Dutch in the Hudson Valley dealt with the Iroquois and supplied them with firearms. The French tried to level up the field. The British won New Netherland after a few Anglo-Dutch wars and inherited the Iroquois, In the later French and Indian War it was mostly Iroquois on the British side and Algonquin tribes on the French. During the Revolution the Iroquois split. The Oneidas had been influenced by a missionary. The Tuscarora had lived in the Carolinas but after losing the Tuscarora War with the British settlers moved to New York state next to the Oneidas. They had an ax to grind with the Brits and allied with the rebels. That was the end of the Six Nation Confederacy. The tribes that backed the wrong horse moved to Canada. That whole 'land' thing was a cultural problem. When the Indians said 'sure, you can hunt here too', they didn't mean you could move in, destroy the hunting grounds, and kick them out. I'm not trying to idealize the 'Noble Savage'. I'll leave that to Cooper, Longfellow, and the like but by and large North America was a hell of a lot more peaceful than Europe ever was and is. then

The modern left pretends everything was kinda utopian UNTIL the Euros arrived. NO !!! The Euros didn't put tens of thousands of cut-out hearts into those Aztec temples. Invasions and genocides and enslavements ... 25,000+ years worth. IF you had anything, SOMEONE ELSE just WANTED it all. The N.American natives didn't "write down" much - kinda covered their asses - but from various records/tales/DNA/etc we can SEE how things proceeded. AS bad or worse than anything the Euros did. So quit with the "Evil Euro" propaganda. The Euros were just the LATEST, maybe but not surely LAST. Not OUR fault, nothing NEW. This is how humans DO stuff. GRAB !!!

It was the 19th century Romantics who looked at filthy industrial cities and created an imaginary idyllic rural past where the life expectancy wasn't 15, and people didn't live miserable lives of grinding poverty. Well actually it was. People were in fact healthier and lived longer in
factories than fields
But of course it was the first time the 'Librals' of the day - the
middle class urban dwelling Romantics actually noticed how miserably
poor the lower classes were.
