To make sure I know EXACTLY > what it is up to. I understand now. I would assume there is a Windows program somewhere that reads those registry modification files without applying them. I'm sure you are not the first one wanting to inspect such a file previous to using it, but most probably in the windows side of the world. Once you find such an application, perhaps it will run under wine. Another idea would be asking in a wine group whether there is a tool to read regedit files. In fact, "apropos wine" produces this: regedit (1) - Wine registry editor and the program can take a file as argument.
