They started an IV just in case. The doctor was ex-military and didn't 
have a problem with me declining. Afterwards I got dressed and went to 
work.

A co-worker had the procedure before I did. His sister retrieved him but 
he was walking dead for the rest of the day. I don't know what sort of 
jungles juice they used. I was under for a hernia repair, woke up in the 
recovery room not too long after they were finished. Called a cab and went 
home. No grogginess or anything.

They made a big deal about not driving so I'd also taken a cab into town 
that morning. George McGovern was a part time resident and had a bookstore 
in Stevensville, about 30 miles south. The driver had the misfortune of 
picking McGovern up after whatever he had done. He bitched all the way 
home about having to take a cab.
