Well Bill if you used a recovery disk on cd you would
not be having that problem. The network install probably does
not have the facility.
I learned to use kb3, the KDE disk writer, to burn bootable
isos without much problems. Of course I had used Windows XP to
burn my first bootable Linux disks and I managed to use it again
when I was getting used to my new notebook and used Windows 8.1.
You must have a system working otherwise we could not read about
your problems here.
You should go to Google and search for Linux Users Groups
in your neighborhood. Here in SF if you contacted San Francisco-LUG
you could have the bootable CD you need by asking at a meeting or
e-mailing me to request that you get such a disk.
If this sort of assistance is not available at other groups I would be
very surprised.
