Thanks, so far such search has failed. Rather than just a <press A, press
B,..> description, I need a hardware-engineer's theoretical explanation.
Like: to get the battery-powered rPi, with no display nor input, to boot
into playing a sequence of *.wav; you can bypass the login, and set the
initial 'task', by editing /etc/inittab and what imediately follows.
And then to navigate the selection of files played with no input, except
the powerswitch, you [time modulate] cut the power at 'selected times'.
Yes, I admit, it's easy to forget the details [that's why the Chinese 
invented writing], but if someone understood the underlying principles,
of 'jailbreaking an ereader',they could explain them.

IMO most of the code would be in ROM and therefore in-accessable.
