Sounds like a monitor problem.  Hook the monitor up to a different
computer, and see if the same thing happens. If it does, then the
problem is probably the monitor. If it doesn't, then it's something
else. In either case, have a tech check it out.  Might be repairable,
but probably won't be a cost effective one.
