As I said before, I encountered total loss of display that at first was sporadic then became permanent. I've been using my funky Optiplex 9020 ($12 from thrift store) for the past month or so as a result. My tests with my 7050 which is my main Linux machine had eliminated my monitor and its plugs as sources of the problem. So the culprit was either the 7050 (plugs as well as GPU), or the display cable, the latter being Relf's favorite culprit in response to _any_ computer problem. Today my order of a new display cable arrived and I checked it with my 7050 and all display issues disappeared into thin air :) So perhaps Relf knew something when he recommended changing the cable with a new one for ANY computer issue :-))) Well, he was sure right this time. I had checked the bad display cable end to end many times, looking for cat bites or some other form of damage. Washed both ends clean of cat urine a few times and dried it well. I could see no sign of any damage. None. So I'd stayed a bit worried it was my $75 Optiplex 7050. I've only had it a year or so. So I'm gladly back at my main Linux computer :) Did anybody find out more about Relf? I think Covid killed him. That would explain the unusual lag between his last post and his death. Survival of the smarter, and the more mature.

Since its resources are somewhat inferior to the 7050, I looked for a light Linux to install on it and destroy the Windows crap. And I found a suitable one and installed it. Guess what Linux flavor it is... LUBUNTU..! :-) Hehe :) Right now I'm testing it with sending this message. If you see it, it is set.

Which still comes back to the question of if one's capability needs are being satisfied or not, such as you and your $12 Special: it seems that being able to post texts to USENET is met, but is there anything else that its needed for which is more demanding? If not, great: you're all set. -hh

A lot in usenet needs only my dick to get done. Ask "DFS" if you don't believe me. He's a groupie of it. Imagine being a groupie of a dick!... Only a female mind .. My 7050 is way too good for here. Now that I took a moment about it, I think "DFS" became a groupie of it not as much for having a female brain, but because he learned from it a dick like mine created the first cro-magnon, and that he's a direct descendant. He has respect for my dick. You can bet on that.

One of my old PCs that's being kept as a 'maybe project' is IIRC an old Celeron running MS-Vista that has a small SSD for its boot drive which could make for a Linux boxen for something. I'd be thinking more 'file server' though, although I'd have to check to see if it is even new enough to be SATA, and if so, how many bays it has to stuff with old small hard drives to waste some electricity on. I've not gotten to it because I already have two Linux boxens doing that, so do I really need a third one? -hh

I've had two occasions just last year when I needed to do something with a working computer and printer and for some reason none of the 5 computers I thought were working could help me. I don't know about you, but I never quite know a computer set up is there when I need it. Also I don't know how many pets you have. I have enough to ruin any of my electronic devices years before their time would be up.

Ditto for not having stuff get knocked off a table to the floor, etc. -hh

Cable is history, and $12 thingy, again, is what rules now! This is what I'm talking about.

The "25 pounds of muscles and life" I mentioned, if I meant my dick by that, would've carried the modifier of "Islamic" also, as it rams the foundation of Islam into any fuckworthy cro-magnon woman that it chooses. Used to anyway. Good for you guys' female folks, cause after it found Chaturbate it hasn't needed anything less.
