Was running Linux primarily, on a dual boot machine, using an alternate engineering network because the corporation used Cisco crapware to make sure you were running only Windows with certain anti-doofus crapware running when attached to their network. If not, your machine is sequestered on a limited-access VLAN. VLC is probably the best media software I've ever come across and I think that its only drawback is that you can't use it as a music management program the way you can with Windows Media Player. I haven't listened to a stream with it but I find that it's probably the quickest music management program available to Linux at the moment and it has decent built-in tag management. For CD ripping, I use Asunder which is surprisingly good. It has issues encoding to AAC though (after you provide it with a proprietary codec) in that it rips the music fine, but it doesn't automatically tag. For Windows try Music Bee. I used to be a Media Monkey user but Media Monkey has bugs, especially handling huge collections of music over a network. Music Bee does this effortlessly. Give it a try.
