I'm stuck on Windows 10 at work now.  Was running Linux primarily, on a dual
boot machine, using an alternate engineering network because the corporation
used Cisco crapware to make sure you were running only Windows with certain
anti-doofus crapware running when attached to their network.  If not, your
machine is sequestered on a limited-access VLAN.

But I left the wired NIC to the main corporate network connected, and one
day I found that corporate crapware had wrecked my Grub partition
(presumably via the Intel Management Engine), so it would boot only to
Windows.  So I threw my hands up, and now run Linux in a VM at work.

As for Windows 10, it may be the encryption and all the anti-doofus crapware
running on that laptop, but it is DOG SLOW.  And this is on a machine with
NVMe SSDs and 32 Gb RAM!

At least the virtual desktops are usable (if still not as nice as Linux's),
and I found out how to support one wallpaper per monitor and enabled
autoraise/autofocus on the crappy Windows desktop manager.

And Word and Excel have a few annoying bugs in them.  I'm not a
happy camper.  Even the VM itself is faster and smoother than its host.

At least I can use Libreoffice.  And VLC, which handles Internet music
streams that Windows Media Player cannot grok.
