Here's how that works.  

They get loan forgiveness.  They think, "OH JOY!"  "NO MORE PAYMENTS!"  
"YAY!"  "LET'S PARTY AND DO DRUGS!"

Then, they get a 1099 for the entire forgiven amount.  They gaff it off. 
One day the IRS garnishes their wages (Assuming they are working), and 
seizes their bank account (If they have one).

They freak and try to negotiate with the IRS.  The IRS will give them a 
fairly large break, but they must pay on a schedule.  Some will hunt down 
a tax debt outfit and get a little better deal, but the negotiators intend 
to get their money too.  Bankruptcy won't wipe student loan debt or tax 
debt.

Who has to make up the difference?  There's always a difference even when 
written off.  We working stiff tax payers pay for it.

PPP loans were *intended* to be forgivable if the funds were used for
eligible expenses.  And fraud is an entirely different issue.

paid to get through the pandemic.

The stimulus checks should have been repaid through taxes after the
pandemic.

But which is the irresponsibility?  Choice was between inflation or
recession.  We chose inflation.  *shrug*  A lot of folks' homes were
saved that could have been lost in a recession.

Trump is throwing away the very tools that allow such economic
management.  The system works.  Why is Trump throwing away such an
effective tool?

It was recession or inflation.

Not there.  We expect certain services from Uncle Sam.

I expect Uncle Sam to liase with my local governtments/utilities and
make sure my water is safe to drink, my air is safe to breathe, my
food is safe to eat and my meds safe to take.

I somehow paid my house off, I lived through the same economy everyone
else did. If people mis-manage their money, that would be a personal
responsibilty issue. For years, way long ago, I worked 2 jobs to get the
house paid for. I didn't consider for a second "taxpayers" needed to
pitch in and help me.

If you look at the waste he is finding(lots of Elon videos out there),
only insane people or those with their hands in the cookie jar, would
think any management was going on until now.

Not social security payments to 15 million people over 120.
Lots of shenanigans with no benefit to the working people.

I don't, I expect local, state government to fix the roads, build new
roads as needed, perhaps provide resources to help poorer people get
their shit together. They've already dropped the ball so many times on
other things I doubt multiple layers of complex regulation does much
more than enrich regulators.
