Another reason to hate phonetards.
Recently moved from ubuntu 10.04 lts to debian jessie.
ubuntu used to automount my media player as mass storage.
Now debian wants to use mtp just to cater to phonetards.
Of course none of the jmtpfs, mtp-tools, etc. stuff works on this
device. Die, phonetards!

Get an Ubuntu phone. You could have full immersion in the Ubuntu ecosystem.

"Ubuntu Phone review: years in the making, but still not consumer-ready"

Sounds like desktop Linux in general.

+1. Two decades after its premiere, it's still mostly unusable.

I had to laugh when I read a Ubuntu phone review from this total fanboi.
See if anyone can spot what's wrong with the review of this *phone*?

<quote>
A month with the Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition:

Problems:
As of the latest update, I am unable to answer calls. When I receive a call
and the decline/answer buttons appear, the touch screen seems to completely
stop working. The only way to fix this is for the person to stop ringing
you, or for you to reboot your phone.

Conclusion:
Overall I am very happy with it. Luckily I don't receive many calls so I can
get by without the phone working for the time being. If you're a dedicated
Ubuntu user, then I definitely recommend this.

Typical Linux loon who, like most of them, is unable to comprehend how much
the device, or Linux itself sucks so they justify it's existence rather
than admit it's a piece of crap.

He's happy with a phone that refuses to answer calls?

Incredible.

So a phone that can't do the most basic of things a phone is supposed to
do is what he would 'definitely recommend'? What the hell was he smoking?

Welcome to the wonderful world of Linux and the Linux fanboys.
Seriously, you can't make this stuff up.
It's like a comedy club that's open 24x7x365.

Well, he does say "if your a dedicated Ubuntu user" and since Ubuntu is
known for piss poor reliability, the victim should feel right a home with
an unreliable phone.

Typed like a true Snit, Michael Glasser. Your sock fools no one. It makes

That review is the most perfect example of how delusional the Linux
losers in general are. I wouldn't be surprised to see Chris "AssStorm"
Ahlstrom sell his children or Geoff "Wideload Porkster" Fitton double
the number of toilets he cleans to buy one.

He's _happy_ with his useless phone because he has no friends.

This is clearly a very objective review.

No thanks. I've got a perfectly good Nokia 1100 that stays in the
car in case I ever need a phone while away from the house.

Finally was able to access the device... with a Windows 7 VM. Of
course even it still talked MTP. The irony of all the messages
when releasing the device from the host mentioning "usb-storage"
did not go unnoticed. Even a 10.04 LTS VM did not work. Gee
thanks, Debian!

WTF is a phonetard?

Are you suggesting that Linux doesn't allow your device to be recognized
as a straightforward mass storage device anymore as a result? That seems
unlikely.

As unlikely as it seems, that is indeed the case, at least for Debian.

Philosophically-speaking, Debian is my favourite but I never had much
like for how it operates outside of the command-line. It's great to run
servers with but as a desktop operating system, I always preferred
Fedora and Ubuntu. Debian's developers never thought much of providing a
decent desktop experience from what I could tell.

Of course, considering that the components used in Debian end up being
used by its derivatives, perhaps all distributions are going to behave
in that manner shortly?

It still mounts my camera just fine. It's only the media player that
it insists on talking to over mtp.
