Sharing these same types of ideas in COLA gets one labeled a Linux hater by
the herd... so the following *must* be Linux haters... right?

  Linus Torvalds:
    -----
Any program is only as good as it is useful.
    -----
I never felt that the naming issue was all that important,
but I was obviously wrong, judging by how many people felt. I
tell people to call it just plain Linux and nothing more.
    -----
I'm generally a very pragmatic person: that which works,
    works.
    -----
In many cases, the user interface to a program is the most
important part for a commercial company: whether the programs
works correctly or not seems to be secondary.
    -----
    Microsoft isn't evil
    -----
An infinite number of monkeys typing into GNU emacs would
    never make a good program.
    -----
Anybody who tells me I can't use a program because it's not
open source, go suck on rms. I'm not interested. 99% of that
I run tends to be open source, but that's my choice, dammit.
    -----
... even if the Hurd didn't depend on Linux code (and as far
as I know, it does, but since I think they have their design
heads firmly up their *sses anyway with that whole
microkernel thing, I've never felt it was worth my time even
looking at their code), I don't believe a religiously
motivated development community can ever generate as good
    code except by pure chance.
    -----
Your problem has nothing to do with git, and everything to do
with emacs. And then you have the gall to talk about "Unix
design" and not gumming programs together, when you yourself
use the most gummed-up piece of absolute sh*t there is!
    -----
I may make jokes about Microsoft at times, but at the same
time, I think the Microsoft hatred is a disease.
    -----
There are "extremists" in the free software world, but that's
one major reason why I don't call what I do "free software"
any more. I don't want to be associated with the people for
whom it's about exclusion and hatred.
    -----
Let's put it this way: if you need to ask a lawyer whether
what you do is "right" or not, you are morally corrupt. Let's
not go there. We don't base our morality on law.
    -----

  Mark Shuttleworth:
    -----
I think we don't yet deliver a good enough user experience. I
think we deliver a user experience for people that have a
reason to want to be on the Linux platform, either because of
price or because of freedom. If that was your primary reason,
    Linux is the right answer.
But if you are somebody who is not too concerned about price,
who is not too concerned about freedom, I don't think we can
say the Linux desktop offers the very best experience. And
that's something we have to change, that's something I'm
committed to work on, focusing increasing amounts of
resources of Canonical on figuring out on how we actually
move the desktop experience forward to compete with Mac OS X.
    ...
Second thing is, we just can't do this only on GNOME or just
on KDE, we need to figure out on how to move the whole Linux
desktop platform forward. I suspect if we hire a bunch of
upstream developers they will be across both GNOME and KDE.
I think the Apple guys have a very good point when they say
we should let designers lead the definition of the user
    experience.
    -----
But I see the lack of consistency as both a weakness (GNOME,
OpenOffice and Firefox all have different UI toolkits, and
it¹s very difficult to make them seamless) and as a strength
    - people are free to innovate, and the results are
    world-leading.
    -----

  Jim Zemlin:
    -----
Yeah, their stuff's pretty good. [points at a MacBook Air]
That's a pretty sweet laptop there. That's the difference. I
get asked a lot, "Why does Apple get a bye?" from the open
source guys. When you're downstairs I'm sure you'll see a lot
more Macs. The reason why they get a bit more of a bye is
because the stuff is really innovative. It's not the stuff
where you say "Not only is it crap but..."
    -----
I'll tell you who's great with the desktop market, it's those
guys, Apple, with I think more than 20 per cent share. But if
you look at things like the Kindle Fire, Android, the
ChromeBook, at all the alternative means of accessing what's
important and what you probably spend 90 per cent of your
time doing, accessing the internet through a web browser,
then I think there's plenty of room for a Linux desktop
    there.
    -----
    > What's one application would you like to see for Linux
    > that doesn't exist currently?
    iTunes. And Microsoft Office.
    -----
Open source is a development methodology, and choice is not
    guaranteed by a development methodology."
    -----
One of the big things that's difficult is consistency, and
    that's Window's biggest strength.
    -----
This certification lab will increase the number of Linux
applications and ensure that Linux does not fragment.
    -----
As the standards are provided and then adopted, the Linux
desktop will snowball. Microsoft can compete with a Sun, a
Red Hat or a Novell, but they won't be able to compete with
    an ecosystem of Linux desktops...
    -----
What our standards will do is enable desktop application
vendors to easily target the Linux ecosystem, not just a
single vendor, to make sure they run across all the different
    distributions...
    -----
[The new LSB desktop group will be dealing with more than
just KDE and GNOME issues though. It will be dealing with]
all issues dealing with interoperability, ... everyone at the
table, and motivated to make the Linux desktop a success,
everyone will be seeking a consensus. This may not [mean]
making developers choose between KDE and GNOME, but instead
finding a way to make it easier for ISVs to create
applications that can easily work with both.
    -----

When I share my similar beliefs the herd thinks it means I am anti-Linux.
So how are the above people *not* "anti-Linux" for sharing similar ideas as
me?

If you cannot even quote an entire sentence of mine you do not deserve a
response of any sort. Still, I give you the gift of one. As far as your
comments below... you do not give ANY evidence of anything or really make
any points. Not interested.

So it's a really hard and difficult OS to use? No wonder it's only on
supercomputers, web servers, hidden in embedded devices and completely
useless and impotent on the desktop.

You really don't get how Linux advocacy is supposed to work do you?

Exactly... the "advocates" pretend those of us whom use Linux and know its
weaknesses are wrong, yet they "promote" Linux by noting we are right.

You haven't figured out that he's a troll yet?

I can't believe that...which means you're being disingenuous.

I share with you how to make money from Linux:

Making money with Linux
-----------------------

The whole idea of making money with Linux has always been you can set up
your own distros and own markets add content and charge what you want.

You don't need permission from anyone.

Evidently google and many other companies are adept at it.
They have put Linux into their server farms and their smartphones,
streaming sticks, laptops. If google made routers, IPWebcams, audio, cameras
(which exist with Android), with Linux then they will be immensely
successful with it again because Linux makes tons of money
for everyone who invest their time.

Google already exceeded Appil valuation twice this year
to become the most valuable company in the world using
Linux. Its sensible to switch to Linux.
And its looking like Linux has taken half of Appil's
lunch these 2 quarters. Sales are down 50% and orders for
supplies are down 30% with inventory pile up.

So Linux has great rewards for all those
who use it and expand their products with Linux
embedded inside. Those who stick with proprietary
continue to loose market share.

Most new ARM PC board makers start with Linux
as their distro of choice and do kickstarter
funding. There is so much demand for innovative
stuff now and Linux is free, that no one
needs to look left or look right to get to market.

In China, maker fares and seed companies seem to have merged
into one hot housing ideas factory where products
are born by the hour and turn into large companies
in days with Linux to power their gadgets.

This is where Europe should be going.
Set up large fairly open space offices in large hanger
for makers and seed companies to rent space
at minimalist price so that they can make
and sell products to visitors, to each other,
and once a day or so, a new product will be born
suitable for crowd funding, which raises
enough money to pay all the taxes for this
kind of funding and hot housing to take place.

Still looking for some evidence of this from you. You found a few same
old same old crowd funded projects but nothing to back up your wild claim.

Why do you continue to make "facts" up?
