That is helpful advocacy in this case. And people appreciate the help. It's
a positive experience.

So do I, and when you get him/her mad and starts calling people foul names,
it ruins any credibility of advocacy.
I've yet to see him/her help anybody with a linux problem in all the years
I've been here.

I take your word that you aren't lying.
It is the hypocrite chrisv that is the liar.

In all fairness to you and chrisv there is history here that plays into
these views. And I'm not part of that history. So my views will never be
able to fully dovetail with the views here.

In my main group I am a Red Hat fan boy. Almost everyone hates their
guts and I'm the guy saying how awesome they are. There is bad blood
from the old days which I simply wasn't around for. So I don't have that
disdain to muddy up my views. Same goes for Canonical. Some people
really hate Shuttleworth. I have no problem with him at all. I've been
in Linux for 3 years. August is my yearly mark.

I'm not, nor will I ever be the most popular view on Linux or the
people here. I'm simply too new and don't have the baggage many of you
have. Just keep that in mind. You'll have to cut me a little a slack as
I need to see things with my own eyes and experience them for myself. I
don't just take other people's word for things. That's going to piss off
people and I'm sorry that can't be helped. I'm not going to read every
post that has ever posted to form an opinion of the past.

So I'm going to give you a fair shot and I hope you give me a fair shot
and we'll see where that takes us. If our views are not compatible
that's not a problem either. If you think I'm being an asshole, I'm sure
you'll let me know. If I think it is justified I am sure I'll let you
know.

Some people I tried to give the benefit of the doubt to immediately
started to say broad things like all Linux users are asshole liars and
such. Blanket statements like that I will take as if they are said
directly to me personally. I might say something like there are koolaid
drinkers, but I don't believe I say all Mac users are koolaid drinkers.
If I do I apologies. Not all are. Some of us are forced to use the shit
platform. I am a Mac user, and don't wish to be.

Anyway, this is getting weird. You get the idea. Hope we're cool. We
don't need more enemies. We have plenty of those already.

Which merely serves as a note for one to be more cognizant of the point,
for subsequently making up one's own decision.

 > In my main group I am a Red Hat fan boy. Almost everyone hates their

FWIW, something that can also be problematic is when participants
fail to disclose any potential conflicts of interest. For example, it would
be quite reasonable to view a 'fanboy' as actually being a 'shill' if they
had an undisclosed professional relationship with said company.

Case in point, are you by any chance a Red Hat employee? Or in any
similar fashion affiliated (to the 'reasonable person' standard) with them?

>I've been in Linux for 3 years. August is my yearly mark.

"in": to what degree and/or fashion, with what relevant affiliations?
Emphasis on things financial.

I don't think he is. His first recommendation to me was Ubuntu Linux.
I believe that is Debian based, not rpm based like RedHat.

He/she was friendly for a few years, till I dropped out of here to do
caregiving for my sister and Mother. No time. So about 5 years ago or so,
I purchased a new HP. Of course it had win7 on it at the time, but also, I
didn't follow any of the anti-trust stuff over MS. So when I did come back
in, I asked what ever happened to this anti-trust stuff against MS. To make
a long story short, he/she got pissed because I didn't say any bad words
about MS in all of this, plus I purchased at a discount straight from MS
VS2010 Pro. They knew me from a long time ago when I helped out getting
their early 90s version of Fortran features that were needed. Hence the
stiff discount. But that further enraged he/she so I was then called a POS.

I don't actually care what people use at all. It used to be that was the
fun part. Learning what others were doing and with what hardware and I
hoped it was different. Otherwise, there was nothing to talk about.

When I had a commodore 64 I loved talking to PC DOS users. Every time I
met someone who had a PC and wanted to check it out. The screen was sooo
nice compared to my C= 64. I had PC envy big time. When I got an Amiga,
I used to stop by this shop near my apartment and check out the Atari
520 ST. The mono display was so crisp and clean. Again, evny.

I got some promotional tape on Sun's Open Look a long time ago and
started dreaming about how cool that might be. Now we're older and we
have money. We can buy whatever we like. And so I have tried everything.
At this point I know what I like and what I don't like. But I'd still
like to see something completely different.

When I heard HP was making some fundamentally new architecture I wanted
it without even knowing what it was. And now I understand they won't be
bringing it out. Whatever it was. I love to explore. I'd love to see
something totally new and different. I'd buy one, learn it and that
right there would be fun. Would I like it more than Linux? Don't know.
But finding out would be so fun.

I'm kinda bummed out that all we get are revisions and updates. Faster,
smaller, less power. Yawn... It ain't like when I was a kid. There was
something completely different every where you turned. Not now. :(

It is. I thought guys were just saying he's on glue to piss him off.
Now I think he must be on glue or something... Don't know what it is but
if he stands on street corners and sells it, he'll make a few bucks.

No, in the replies I've seen back to Snit/Glasser, IMO it's been
evident for quite some time that he's been on something, or completely
off his head. Or maybe, completely off his head *on* something!

I dunno, but I reckon that if we could sell tickets for watching Glasser
making a spectacle of himself, we'd make a fortune!
And that's not to mention selling beer & popcorn! LOL

He's on various medications and when he mixes the drugs with alcohol and
the glue he huffs, strange things happen.

You should have been in CSMA a few years ago when he had a massive
mental break down. The sock puppets were crawling out of every nook and
cranny.

One way to drive snit crazy is to talk about him but disengage from
communicating with him. It drives him crazy. Well, crazier than he
already is.

How would you gauge that level of craziness? I think it would peg just
about any conceivable meter (from the old analog days). And I think
you're right about not talking to him. He does seem to particularly hate
that.

It's off the scale. Ever see those sci-fi movies from the 50's where
there is some earthquake at the bottom of the ocean that is going to
wipe out the planet?
The meters in the scientists labs are pegging against the stops.

That's snit.

He is off the charts.

This is your task gluey. You can push it onto Marek all you want but it still is your stupid task. You made something you thought was amazing when it really was stupid. Marek talked about it in that context. You did nothing other than take a screenshot of Numbers and then asked to be paid for it, assuming you even had a customer. Frankly that seems like bullshit to me.

Bullshit. It was meant to show off your 'lete skills. You do the same with Dreamweaver which makes sites with templates and simple point and click alternation and produces fucked up code.
