RAID0 for both. 128GBx2 in the first, 256GBx2 in the second. Some
distributions see it but refuse to install on it (or cause an error
along the way) whereas the others don't see it at all as a RAID and
instead as two separate disks. The RAID options are in the BIOS so I
imagine that it's a software level one but I don't know for a fact.

Are you dual-booting?
Maybe this will give some assistance:

I've never been a fan of the idea of dual-booting. I enjoy the idea of
having one system on my computer and doing everything that I want to do
with it. I am using Windows but most of the software I use is
open-source. To me, that's fine. I don't want to risk having data lost
or something similar because Linux suddenly doesn't like my RAID or
something of the sort either.

I don't understand. Were you attempting to install linux in a dual-boot
onto a system with fake RAID, or were you going with a linux-only install
on that system?

I was attempting to install Linux as the sole operating system onto a
laptop in which 4 M.2 SSDs are set up in two separate RAID0
combinations. I'm starting to think that it would work better if I
combined them all into one RAID0 and separated them afterwards though
but I am reluctant to do that because the performance of the first two
M.2s is not the same as the two 256GB Intel ones I got and I imagine it
might create some sort of bottleneck.

If it's not a dual boot with Windows, I would just turn off the fake
RAID in the bios and set up a software RAID during installation.

What is your evidence? I am not going to play like Snit did not help me on encryption and I appreciate his service. Steve Petruzzellis has Snit's posts to follow and can begin to at least pretend he is not just making things up from here on out ;) You haven't been tracking him to fully determine the depths of the guy's narcissism.

I am working on a program which will show off how weak SC is.

Most posters in this forum do programming either as a hobby or as a trade, so I am skeptical anyone here thinks of writing macros to be "sorcery".

Do you have a high school diploma? Steve Petruzzellis's posts are nothing but an indecipherable babble.

At times, an inner world is more valuable than reality.

What did you expect from the lying imbecile? That Jonas Eklundh dolt has nothing to squander but time. He has nothing else, especially not a girlfriend. It was Jonas Eklundh who got busted using dozens of socks over and over, and these are 'people' who come literally out of the blue straight into threads where he was being ripped apart... over and over for years. Calls it "trolling" him, even though he continues to give rise to that precise standard. Klaus Schadenfreude and Lovelace had their clinkers and their erratum. One played it as supernatural and didn't do anything too horrendous that could not be tricking people until it was too late.

There is no question at least some of the posts are hand generated because some of them tap into what Klaus Schadenfreude said in very specific ways which proves they are a response, not just crap.

Sadly this is what happens when dangerously low self-respect takes over Jonas Eklundh's worldview.

You likely think Gnome handles the desktop well. Nope. Not compared to anything else, really.

You've proven nothing.

Besides Script Troller, who fails to understand what I'm doing?

RonB bamboozled Script Troller some, big fricking deal. Script Troller is being a crying fuckhead about it? It was Script Troller who forged me and admitted it. The text of the post is a bunch of delusional bullshit. We know what that means.

Hell, just recently Script Troller was declaring himself the only "true Linux advocate", and claiming that "advocates" (in irony-quotes just to annoy RonB) are actively working against the success of desktop Linux.

I'm realizing that you're right in that Linux does allow you to put two
or more drives together during installation if the user chooses. On the
other hand, things are working fine for now so I won't tempt fate for
the time being.

RAID0 is tempting fate anyway, but that aside, I would rather have
Linux in control of it than some dubious firmware.

How does it tempt fate, exactly? I've had the the first two M.2s in a
RAID0 since the laptop was purchased in 2015 and it's never been an
issue for me.

Because failure rate factor would increase by the number of drives, and
data recovery from a failed array would be more difficult than from a
failed standalone disk. There is nothing RAID-like about a RAID0 in the
sense of redundancy. It's just striping. But as long as you do backups,
it's ok.

Can you get a little less dense? Turns out Script-Troller's non-stop flooding comments of Klaus Schadenfreude met the agreed on criteria of trolling, so he pretended he never said that. I will not ask Script-Troller how any part of Klaus Schadenfreude's anatomy tastes no matter how often Script-Troller licks it.

You purchased it and deleted competing systems and your "diagnostic abilities" lead you to that verdict, proving what? You can say I am Charlie Brown for all I care. Klaus Schadenfreude is a false advocate's biggest fear. What were you expecting?

I'd be worried if they were regular HDs, but they are M.2 SSDs and I
therefore have more confidence in their durability. HDs suck. I don't
care how much storage they have, they're outdated and don't serve a
purpose unless you need to store a large amount of data. Even then, I
wouldn't expect them to last more than three years.

RAID0 is only sensible RAID with SSDs. Conserning HDDs, I have only one
dead so far in 26 years. On servers, they die accasionaly, but so SSDs. HDDs are good
for music and movies, putting them on SSDs is wasted space.
Also for backups, you don't wont SSD for backup, no point.

I might not want SSDs for backups, but I will only use them for backups
anyway. I simply don't trust HDs on a laptop. They're not durable at all.

Don't look now, but I think Sockboy has a serious brocrush on John Gohde.

Sockboy shows this is an insomniac troll writing because some of them tap into what John Gohde said in very specific ways with attempts to mislead on specific issues. I am working on code which will show off how weak Tmux is.

This forum is a puss-filled cyst. You are quick as a tuna on ice. Sockboy showed himself to be a hypocrite by having the pretense to not argue with John Gohde by means of emphatically proclaiming 'Into the bin with you!' and then assailing him again via a 3rd party. Sockboy must understand that anyone can go get a Mac, right, tweaker? Meanwhile, anyone can can get software to block his crap, which renders his usenet group attack harmless, just like Sockboy ;) So, yeah, I buy into my own make believe world, fully knowing Sockboy has been fooled, because it makes me reconsider my code, improving it.

So you would put SSDs in NAS?

Can you stop pleading for my attention?

And why the requirement to view data via GNU/Linux in a server system? Of course, The Thing didn't define this as part of his, predictably, continually changing 'standard'.

You refuse to take culpability for your own comments. Actions that are easily seen to be trolling.
