The Contributor Covenant is an agreement to implement a special Code of Conduct (frequently CoC from now on) aimed at changing the predominantly white, straight, and male face of programming. The open source model in and of itself is an extreme socialistic model. It assumes everyone can work together for a common good with each person contributing what they can to the cause and making the results open to anyone who would want to use those results. The problem is, this model fails for several reasons. 1. There is no incentive to innovate because there is no compensation. Everyone is an equal so the hanger on type folks reap the benefits of those performing the innovation. This model works great at the hobbyist level but falls apart when the product has the potential of becoming a competitor. 2. Corporations are free to make huge amounts of money while those doing the work get an honorable mention in some credits.txt file that literally nobody will ever read. At some point it's inevitable that the suckers will wake up and realize they have been hoodwinked and they will move on to positions where they get paid what they are worth.
