Pretty much... but not forced, as is the case with a socialist society.

It is why you see a LOT of copying in the open source world, and where 
there is innovation it is OFTEN done half-way. Then MS or Apple or 
others take those ideas and make them fit in better and more complete... 
and then the open source folks insist Apple or MS or the like did 
nothing. :)
