Christians in Israel face the same kind of issues with the Orthodox Jews (and the IDF). They're spit on and their churches are shuttered on Christian holy days. I'm not a Muslim and I don't like a lot of their crap, but you've got to remember, it was the Palestinians who were driven out of their homes and businesses and were driven into refugee camps. These homes and businesses were given to the Jews (simply because they were Jews) who streamed in from all over the world. Europe (and the U.S. and Canada) are doing something similar by moving illegal aliens (many Muslim) to the front of the line for benefits while the native citizens stand at the back of the line and watch. I know you already resent this, but how much more would you resent having your home confiscated from you and given to an illegal alien? (Probably a Muslim.) That's what happened to the Palestinians. Gaza is basically an open air prison. And American Jews "vacation" in Israel by burning down orchards and destroying homes while backed by the IDF on the West Bank. They then claim the property for their own. There's only so much of that crap that anyone can take. So, while I don't like the Muslim religion, I can understand what drives their hatred for the Israelis. Under similar circumstances you would probably be a "terrorist" as well. (As if carpet bombing civilians, and denying them food, water and medicine is not the act of terrorist and genocidal state.) -- Jesus sat with sinners: He didn't sin with them. Know the difference.

The Gazans have a reason to hate Jews, but they would have hated them regardless of whether anything had been done to them. Heck, the entire religion advocates for a hatred of both Christians and Jews, the latter of which was on the pretense that they had persecuted Muhammad. Of course, no evidence of this exists outside the Koran. Heck, in most reports within the Koran, it is said that the Muslims were treated well by the Jewish hosts. Of course, it doesn't matter how well you were treated once you have an army much larger than that of your hosts. This is a pattern we constantly see with Muslim: peaceful until they have the numbers. -- God be with you, CrudeSausage LibreOffice supporter John 14:6

It wasn't a bed of roses but arguably the Jews did better under the Moslems in al-Andalus than in Christian Europe during the same period. Earlier the Visigoths had no use for Jews and after the Reconquista maranos were treated with suspicion and in 1492 Columbus and practicing Jews left. (separate events although some claim Columbus had a Jew onboard) Spain was more or less Judenrein until 1968 after Vatican II published 'Nostra aetate' saying Jews weren't really Christ-killers. Likewise the Ottoman Empire had its up and downs but many Jews relocated there from Christian controlled areas.

I'm aware. There are some excellent videos on YouTube about the Reconquista which explain why and how the royals in Spain expelled or force converted anyone who wasn't Catholic. I'd feel bad except that when Spain was turned into a caliphate, they had force converted everyone there to Islam as well. -- God be with you, CrudeSausage LibreOffice supporter John 14:6

There are different Muslim sects. Some are much less aggressive than others. The Shiites, for example, aren't usually the "head choppers," that's nearly always the Sunnis. Guess which ones the U.S. cuddles up to? Jews in Iran, for example, are not persecuted so long as they identify as Iranians and not Zionists (Israelis). To further complicate it, Arabs are a small minority in Iran and frequently persecuted. Iran inherited what was called Arabistan from the Ottoman Empire and it's been a thorn in their side. The Persians are an Indo-European people, or what was called Aryan before some unfortunate 20th century events. They don't like Arabs, who are a Semitic people. It's like one of those logic statements. Most Arabs are Moslems but most Moslems aren't Arabs. The Arabs seem to be the least civilized.

The U.S. sponsored a coup against the elected government and installed the Shah of Iran and his thug police. Everything you wrote is confirmed by what I've read, seen in documentaries and received as testimony to the few Iranians I did talk to. Heck, I had one in the soccer team I coached years ago. He really was a good guy. As for the United States going on a demonization campaign against Iran and Iranians, it's definitely a fact. They've done the same with South and Central American nations that refused to be ripped off. -- God be with you, CrudeSausage LibreOffice supporter John 14:6

I imagine that BRICS's success will result in new opportunities for Canada as well. The problem is that I don't believe our Liberal government will bother to take advantage of any of them.
