Yep. Microsoft can't do repositories because everything is set up to make a profit and create a "need" to upgrade. Linux is made by people who want a good operating system. That's why ALL of the top super computers run Linux. -- The more I see of Windows, the more I like Linux.

I take great joy in knowing that most of the software I'll need is available through an apt-cache search or through an apt install. It's a _lot_ easier than scouring the web and finding the real site for a piece of software through dozens of authentic-looking site which deploy malware instead of what you want. Indeed. Windows 10 + fulldiskencryption + mcafeescanner = slowashell. Heck, when I come back from my desk and move the mouse, it takes seconds for the password prompt to come up on Win 10. People put up with Windows' issues because they don't think they have a choice. You become a Windows' "expert" by knowing how to get around all its many problems. The act of fixing Windows eventually becomes automatic so Windows' users don't even realize how much time and effort they're spending to keep the Malware Magnet OS running. If Windows was secure and you didn't need to run some kind of anti-virus a hundred percent of the time, it would probably be faster. As is, there's always a "lag" when moving around on the Internet. Its insecurity (and poor design) make it crap. Linux provides a vastly superior user experience. -- The more I see of Windows, the more I like Linux.

I never found all that slow to be fair with all of the above (but Bitdefender for an anti-virus) but I just found it sad that it was all necessary to have a semblance of security. > Heck, when I come back from my desk and move the mouse, it takes seconds > for the password prompt to come up on Win 10. Bleh. I think the only place where Windows really beats Linux, to this day, is in the ACPI department. That's a claim of "they believe", and we all know how twisted and dishonest such claims can be. You know how informal language works. Well, proof that the objective is to have "50% females in tech projects, with an equal mix of races" would be quick and easy proof of a completely ridiculous and unreasonable agenda. I believe he is also mentioned at the quoted link.
