As well as all the other things needed to solve a business problem. Fortunately I worked for companies that realized that the engineers bright ideas weren't always the best from a total solution point of view. The engineers and techs knew the parts of the job at hand that they needed to, the sales force knew the whole thing. And the ones that worked with me realized that sales is every bit as important as any job of any company out there. After all, if it doesn't sell, the company doesn't make money. Frankly it is easier to hire a new techie type than it is to hire a really good salesperson. So don't try to compare the store sales person with professional sales people, it is a completely different animal. > > If there is someone more dishonest than a salesman he has to be called a > Snit Typical dumbass 'engineer' response. > >> You have ZERO idea how small >> businesses automate lots of things with excel and then word template >> integration. > > Which is totally irrelevant. I'd say you'd be surprised, but with your 'superior to everyone' attitude, something tells me you won't do it or even have a clue what you are looking at. Go back to the tech room with the rest of the geeks. > >> In short you're the worst of the worst : ignorant and too >> lazy and arrogant to learn and correct yourself. You really are terminally stupid when it comes to tech sales as much as you are about technology in general. Consultive sales was the model used and the salesperson is every bit as big a deal in the solutions as are the techs, programmers and network engineers I worked with. Most often I designed the networks for the schools and businesses I sold to. Some with a few hundred workstations and quite a few servers. I went up on bidded projects against the big boys quite a few times and won the bid more often than not. I wrote the specifications in conjunction with the network engineers, techs and programmers for most projects. And that's how it is done in successful value added resale shops. > > Really. You're a former SALESMAN and you're trying to lecture us > about technology? I was programming at first, probably about the time you were still shitting yellow in your nappies. Found programming to be very boring. -- Lloyd

The Office apps in Office365 default to save to the cloud, but they don't have to and are installed on your computer. IOW, they are not web apps. And for small business, they get Exchange and a few other things without having the hassle of setting up their own servers. It really is a nice package. As to trusting the cloud, yeah I fully understand your position even if I don't totally agree with it. If you think for a minute that 'they' can't get all they need from you just from being on the internet, you haven't been paying attention. The cloud just makes it easier!! :) -- Lloyd

You work with the client to define the issues to be solved, the possible solutions, including designing the networks for most of them. Conductive sales is not at all like what you are used to at McDonalds. And if you are doing conductive sales, you are working damned hard to keep them as repeat customers. You don't do that unless you really understand their business and yours. > -- > Oracle... can't live with it... ||| > / | \ > can't just replace it with postgres... > -- Lloyd
