$1m propietary costs suck, Open source costs less ------------------------------------------------- To fully kit up a PC with proprietary to the same equivalent as what a major distro like Ubuntu offers, it would cost $1m or more to have all the software, terabytes of source code, compilers, tools, applications and features that open source provides free. Around 25,000+ minimum ranging from 3D design, games engines, libre office to kicad, gcc, and vi. As the years have gone by since the open source movement started, every single major product that open source supports and sells is superiour to proprietary. Management trolls in big crocporations like appile, microshaft, oricle, farcebook etc are not educated enough beyond their cubicle comfort zone end while away believing in the power of employing internet trolls and format wars to capture customers. Their no plan B Elopic esque response is limited to fighting the open source movement whilst continuing to loose their business revenue as they employ vast numbers of internet trolls and engage in format wars to retain their lost customers. The companies that have embraced open source such as google and Amazon have all come out on top with more products, ervices and revenue than any of its competitors and continue to conquer everything they touch. Management trolls on the other hand can only claim to have 'stemmed the crimson tide' which is code for wasting everyone's time and money in an attrition war from which they have barely survived coming out with less revenue and customers than what they started with. Unlike google and Amazon for example that have more customers because their management and engagement with open source world is more honest and decent. Open source will continue to get better and stronger. There are still billionairs to be made who can turn open source projects into monetized products and services which everyone wants to buy and get support on.

Open Source loses big time when that is considered which is one reason Open Source is ignored. Let's see how many of the Linux loons call you out on your insanity. -- flatfish+++ 163 Reasons not to deal with Michael "Snit" Glasser, the Prescott Computer Guy http://cosmicpenguin.com/snitlist.html

Why don't you know that already, little fraud? There's some good OSS, but the best code, by far, is proprietary. best 3d game engines: proprietary best office software: proprietary best 3d graphic/modeling software: proprietary best rdbms: proprietary best music production: proprietary best accounting software: proprietary best statistical software: proprietary
