This started in 2004 when Carroll got mad about his then girlfriend
obsessing over me (heavily documented here:
<http://tinyurl.com/proof-about-ebot>. I continued to respond to him for
about 5 years, when he flipped out in 2009 and started contacting my
employer with the stated goal to have me fired (he spoke of doing so even if
he has to twist arms):

    <http://goo.gl/OHNryA>
    <http://goo.gl/MZ6yCD>
    <http://goo.gl/WaKKGq>

With that I stopped responding directly to him except for *one* chance I
gave him in 2011 when he was accusing *me* of running:

Carroll, as predicted, ran (he always does when faced with facts):
<http://goo.gl/qHs5Xh>

He knows he has no backing for any of his nonsense and has become, if
anything, more and more obsessive since I stopped responding to him.

He is truly a very, very sick man.

So you're too stupid to understand my simple methodology. No need to
take it out on MS.

I have actually come to the conclusion that wRonG is indeed as stupid as
we feared. Didn't he have some great insight into how share price %
works? A true idiot's idiot is our wRonG - but I bet Creepy Chris
Ahlstrom "dunno".

So have I.
He's obsessed with Apple and Microsoft as well.

The fact he runs dumpster hardware and brags about it is probably an
indication that he can't afford Apple products so he lashes out at
those who can afford them.

He is so obsessed he has imaginary friends who are obsessed with it, too. It
is just weird.

I looked first at the largest context before drilling down:

In order of popularity

Operating System Requests Percentage

Windows 100,482 M 43.44%
iPhone 55,191 M 23.86%
Linux 28,571 M 12.35%
iPad 23,274 M 10.06%
Mac 13,079 M 5.65%
BlackBerry 891 M 0.38%

(subtotal: 221,480 M 95.74%)

SymbianOS 70.8 M 0.03%
FreeBSD 30.6 M 0.01%
DoCoMo 13.1 M 0.01%
SunOS 6.2 M 0.00%
OpenBSD 0.839 M 0.00%

Total 231,332 M 100%

Where the above gets slightly misleading is that
the "12.3% Linux" includes Andriod. Seeking to
separate that out is what DFS's table is; in
slightly broader contextual form:

Linux Android 25,486 M 11.02%
Mac Intel 12,994 M 5.62%
Linux Other 1,926 M 0.83%
Linux Ubuntu 1,118 M 0.48%
Mac PowerPC 83.6 M 0.04%
Linux Fedora 9.6 M 0.00%
Linux Mint 9 M 0.00%
Linux SUSE 8.2 M 0.00%
Linux Debian 4.9 M 0.00%
Linux Mandriva 3.6 M 0.00%
Linux Mips 1.6 M 0.00%
Linux Red Hat 1.4 M 0.00%
Linux Kubuntu 0.955 M 0.00%
Linux CentOS 0.954 M 0.00%
etc.

Taking the above and subtracting these two lines:

Linux 28,571 M 12.35%
minus
Linux Android 25,486 M 11.02%
----------------------------------------
(Linux Desktop) 3,085 M 1.33%

Which can be cross-checked by summing its constitutent pieces:

Linux Other 1,926 M 0.83%
Linux Ubuntu 1,118 M 0.48%
Linux Fedora 9.6 M 0.00%
Linux Mint 9 M 0.00%
Linux SUSE 8.2 M 0.00%
Linux Debian 4.9 M 0.00%

Note: 99.97% accounted; the balance is
obviously the ignored "etc" & rounding.

The net sum conclusion from this analysis
is that the high level breakdown of Wiki
accessors by OS is:

 43.4% - Windows
 33.9% - iOS
 11.0% - Android
  5.7% - Mac OS
  1.3% - Linux (desktop)
  0.4% - Blackberry OS
------------------------
95.7% (vs 95.74 in above subtotal; remaining
balance is 'etc' & rounding errors)

It seems nearly impossible for iPhone users to show more than 50% as
many page requests as Windows users. I trust they're reporting the data
correctly, but this is too strange. And I see they're not counting
Windows 8.x (or maybe they are but forgot to update the comments).

Nice analysis.

How did you get your columns to stay aligned? Mine are aligned when I
submit the post, but when I read it from the group they're out of whack.

I hadn't looked at it all that closely. My initial
thoughts would be to look at how iOS loads pages
(reloads, specifically), including when one relaunches
back into Safari after having been in a different App.

And I'd also look at the same for Android, to see if
their numbers might similary be inflated due to some
general difference attributable to mobile App's relative
limitations vs desktop systems.

Dumb luck? I did make it a point to avoid tabs,
but the rest was done by eyeball in Google Groups;
perhaps I'm preset on employing a monospace font?

While I definitely understand the complaints of html (based on misuse), tabular data would actually be a good case for using it in usenet posts.
