The funny thing is that dumb willie thinks Bob uses windows. Last I
looked, he was using a Mac. Maybe Apple wouldn't let dumb willie polish
their apple.

Regret to inform you that all I say is based on experience using LO
(especially Writer and to a lesser extent Calc) in projects with many
players. The annoyance caused by exporting docs to others and the
formatting errors and correcting same were a distraction and waste of
time and occasionally caused more errors to be introduced to the
documents resulting in more waste of time. (As to getting a group of
disparate collaborators to use LO in the first place? hahahahahahaha).

The larger the collaborative effort (esp. once there are more than 2
people/companies in the effort) then the more quickly everything breaks
down. Get everyone on MS Word/Excel and it's not longer a time wasting
issue. You focus on the work and not the issues around using LO.

And by the way, you can snip relevany content to your heart's delight,
it doesn't remove the truth of the matter. Think on that for more than
2 ms this time.

Not here to play with or amuse you, even in your wildest fantasies.

Ah yes, back to this. I used to refer to Linux as GNU/Linux to make a
distinction between the kernel and the whole package. It looks like it
will be necessary to do so again to avoid misunderstandings.

I used Microsoft Office because I got it for 11$ (the Pro version too).
Otherwise, I'd have contented myself with WordPerfect or LibreOffice.

I still think that its grammar checker is the best one on the market.
The problem is that everything else is pretty bad.

I've interacted with msoffice using people for years with StarOffice.

I've had few problems EVER. Even if I did have a problem, the MS users
had a strange eagerness to blame Microsoft for the problem.

BS. They interact with mainly other MS Office users. When there are
unusual formatting issues and they always come from one source (you)
they catch on quick where the issue is.

It's one of many reasons I stopped using Open Office completely (at
about the time it became LibreOffice).

MS Office is far from perfect. I certainly do not ever use Outlook.

But Word and Excel are the de facto standards across many
companies/industries, government orgs and so on.

So it's .... the standard ... in which people expect to work. When
you exchange a doument dozens of times for markuped editing, there is
no way it would survice import/export to/from LO w/o gumming up the
work.

The _work_ is far more important than the cost of MS Office.

I speak from experience doing real work in a real office between real
companies on real projects where real documents are exchanged.
Whenever anyone (inlcuding myself) used non MS Word/Excel docs (esp.
during the "collaborative editing stage") chaos and time loss ensued.

You can defend Linux desktop and L.O. all you like. All the power to
you. But the fact remains that they are both jokes in the real working
world.
