What I know for a fact is that I don't need to worry about malware and 
updates taking over my computer while using GNU/Linux. Not only that, but 
installing and trying out applications is a lot easier when you don't 
have to venture onto some obscure website and install it manually. 
Repositories are the greatest thing and it's a shame Microsoft hasn't yet 
seen the benefit of having one for all applications, not just the shite 
they put in the Windows Store.
