| Subject | Is there a weight-loss app that doesn't require the net? |
| Message-ID | <lldjma$o6t$1@dont-email.me> |
I really don't want to be putting my weight on the net, nor what I eat, nor whom I converse with about it. But, I really need help from a weight-loss app! (for either my Android phone or iPad) What I'd want that weight-loss app to do, first and foremost, would be to allow me to enter in what I eat, not by Calories, but by (small/medium/large) item. For example: 1 large bananna, 1 small cup coffee, 1 teaspoon sugar, 1/2 pound lean lean beef, 1 medium head of lettuce, etc. Then, all I want the program to do is calculate my caloric intake, and, keep track of results ON MY DEVICE (not on the net!). Ideally, it should 'project' my weight loss over time, e.g., it should give me some kind of progress report against my long-term weight goals. Is there *any* weight-loss app that will help me track my caloric intake that does not require me to put my weight and calories out there on the web? Note: I installed myfitnesspal, livestrong, & Lose it! before I realized I needed to ask this question, because all three of those required a login to work.

Erm ...I think you're confused. OK but this thread wasn't about extreme programs, more those which have some sort of trivial irritation, which is where the disagreement comes in. There's nothing legendary about these fitness techniques, only morons who don't understand how it works. You're free to check my facts. hb -- "All truth passes through three stages. I used Noom some years ago. I'm not sure if it's online or not but I think not. Food logging was simplified to size and color, color being just green/yellow/red corresponding roughly to calory density. I felt that was a little too vague for food logging. Worth a look though.

No apps required. Don't even need phone service. Weight loss is not rocket science. It's lifestyle change. EXERCISE. Always stay hungry. Never eat anything that tastes good...that eliminates fat and sugar. Do that and you will loose weight and not gain it back at the end of your "diet". Not difficult at all...but it is boring. Best thing to do when you're bored is exercise.

mike wrote, on Tue, 20 May 2014 00:22:30 -0700: > Weight loss is not rocket science. > It's lifestyle change. You are correct. It's a huge mental change. Weight loss is much more than simple math. The *easy* part of the math, the part that everyone knows already, is understanding that one needs to burn more and/or eat less to lose weight. That math is so trivially simple (and correct) that for people to repeat it, as advice, means they don't get it. I repeat: Anyone who says losing weight is as simple as burning more and/or eating less, isn't worth talking to, because they don't understand the problem at all. You understand the problem. The problem is not realizing one has to burn more and/or eat less. If it were that simple, nobody would be a BBW. Everyone would be perfect. The problem is that eating less and burning more requires a *lot* of psychological management. That's why there are sooooo many different diets out there. They all make use of psychology. However, it's not even *that* simple. If one psychological method worked to make people burn more and eat less, we'd only need a single diet book and everyone would be thin again. So, everyone has to find the psychological method that works for *them*! For me, it's the ability to *easily* enter into my portable device the food I eat in general terms (e.g., 1 large bowl of pasta, 1 8oz glass of milk, etc.), and then to have the application calculate the calories. All the application has to do is summarize those calories per day against my weight-loss goals. I don't see *why* every program I have tested needs the Internet to do that. Why can't they just have a database like offline map programs do?

When people go on a diet, they tend to become constipated. Muesli not only digests very slowly, hence keeping you satiated a longer time, but also stimulates your digestive system, and contains almost all the vitamins and minerals you need (if coupled with milk). There is no vitamin C though. Drink plenty of water. There are no calories in water. Maintaining a low fast-absorption-carbohydrate diet (no sugars) forces your liver to produce enzymes that break fat up to make the glucose your body needs, so after a few days of irritability, tachycardia and headaches your body adapts, and you feel normal, even when eating very little. Try not to lose more than 3 kg a month. More than that and the tendency to rebound is much higher. I agree to the above post, except for the hunger part. As I said, if you cut out sugars, hunger tends to go away. http://ndb.nal.usda.gov/ Has a lot of info, but info will not make you slim.
