It has nothing at all to do with the Mail app. Instead, it's related to
whatever device or cable you have connected to the iPad at the time.

What do you have connected to the iPad when you see the message?

Please fix your news client so that it does not append this nonsense to
every message you post, or at the very least, fix it so that rather than
"---" it uses the standard, proper "-- " delimiter so that replies to
your posts won't have this crap in them. Thanks.
