Hello all,

I own a Poco F1 and my Windows 7 64 ultimate does not recognise the
phone when I plug it into my USB 3.0 port.
How do I get Win 7 64 to recognise my new phone?

I had the same problem with a different device using a different version 
of Android and plugged into a Windows 10 computer. This solved it for 
me. IF the directions still seem to fit, give it a try. Can't hurt.

On the phone: Settings > apps > 3 dots > tic show system > in both the 
EXTERNAL STORAGE and the MEDIA STORAGE apps: tic storage and then clear 
both DATA and the CACHE > reboot.

Did you go into the Android's settings and however it was customized for
the Poco to check the USB port was enabled for more than just charging?
On some smartphones, you have to configure what the USB port will do.

Did you enable Developer Options ...

I had an ADB driver a long time ago.  I used the one from the maker of
my phone (Samsung).  However, from some additional reading, there

answer and tell you where to find their ADB driver, if they have one, or
who else's to use.  Remember that they might be half a world away from
you, so may have to call late at night or the wee morn hours for them to
be at work.  They also have an e-mail link.  Because I couldn't find a
downloads page, I don't know that they have their own ADB driver.  There
are lots of sites claiming to have the "official" Xiaomi ADB driver.

Thank you so very much. I wonder why a major manufacturer
(4th biggest seller of phones in the world) does not have a proper
support system.

The Intel ADB driver, I got directly from Intel server. Should I try
that?

Before installing any software, have you yet revisited the settings in
the phone to check how the USB port is configured (dev options & USB
debug mode, if the port is configured for charging only or for data
transfer, PTP vs MTP vs MIDI)?  You could install the driver and still
not have the phone show up on your computer via USB if the phone isn't
configured properly.

Before installing any driver, make sure to save an image backup of the
OS partition to make sure you can get back to that state.  Uninstalls
and System Restore don't always work.

Before installing Intel's driver, contact Xiaomi via online chat or
e-mail, as suggested, to see what they recommend.

When I try on Oreo 8.1 miui 10.0.4, I get "log into miui 10.0.4
account, to enable USB Debug Mode, I get asked "enter your password
for your miui account". I do not use miui account.

On several smartphones running various versions of Android, I've NEVER
had to log into any account to:

- Enable Developer options.
- Enable USB Debug Mode.

However, I've never had a smartphone made (and a customized Android OS)
from Xiaomi.  Those functions don't (or shouldn't) rely on any online or
local account.  I was unsure what the "miui 10.0.4" means as a qualifier
to "Oreo 8.1".  Had to do some online searching.

Oh oh.  Although the <title> tag for that page says "Xiaomi MIUI
Official Global Site", I couldn't find any information on that the site
that it is actually a Xiaomi site.  None of the pages show "Copyright by
Xiaomi" or anything else pointing back to Xiaomi.  A WhoIS on miui.com
shows a hidden registration: the actual domain registrant is not
listing, just some private domain registration service (eName); however,
xiaomi.com uses the same registrar to hide their domain registration.  I

So, it looks like custom ROM code from Xiaomi.  However, that means any
help from others is most likely based on standard OS navigation for
Android as it comes from Google or with just a little customization by a
phone maker to brand that phone as theirs.

That shows the author unlocking Developer Options by simply repeatedly
tapping on the MIUI setting.  If you're getting some demand to connect
to a MIUI account then that is something Xiaomi added as a requirement
in their customized ROM code.  Since USB Debug Mode is (or should be)
under Developer Options, looks like Xiaomi demands you have an account
with them to get at the dev options, like USB Debug Mode.  The Youtube
author didn't show any demand to connect to a MIUI account.  Could be he
already saved that account on the phone or his phone doesn't demand an
account.  I've watched other Youtube videos on enabled Developer Options
on the Pocophone, and none of them were prompted to login into an
account.

When I first saw MIUI as a data transfer mode, I didn't know what it
meant.  With their custom ROM, maybe you have to use MIUI transfer mode

Xiaomi doesn't provide online manuals, so I can't go RTFM for you.

varying their bundled apps, so different brands and even models within
the same brand will differ in the OS settings navigation.  I don't own a
Pocophone (and likely never will since I want quality over cheap price).
No matter what menu nav I give on my phone, you have to dig around on
your phone to see if there is an equivalent setting.

That one is okay.  When the phone is plugged into the charger, the
author shows the notification presented for that state of the USB port.
Notice it says "Tap for more options".  Notice the dialog that appears
show how to to use the USB port.  My guess is you have the USB port
configured to only do charging.  I won't do data transfers when in
charge-only mode.

Youtube is very handy to figure out things.  Use enough search terms in
the criteria to help focus on what you want to find.  I suspect that
Youtube, owned by Google, uses the same search syntax as does Google's
search engine.
