I installed the GEico app so that I wouldn't have to replace the
insurance certificate every 6 months, and to log in, you need a userid
and password.   I looked them up on the PC and logged in.  

Now it remembers my userid but not my password.  In general in Android
is there a way to save passwords and have them used automatically, like
in Firefox on the PC. 

I don't need security here.  I probably won't lose the phone and if I
do, what could happen?  

Someone will insure his car on my account?  The police and I should be
able to find him once I know what car it is.  

He'll cancel my insurance so they send a refund check?  They will send
the refund to me, unless he changes the address, in which case they'll
probably email me saying someone is changing the address, but anyhow, at
most I'll lose 6 months premium and anyone this sneaky can make more
money doing other things.  

So how can I save my password for non-critical apps? 

I'd prefer it if there weren't extra steps, an extra app, and another
password.   But even that might be okay once I'm up to 2 or more such
non-critical apps. 




(I could use Firefox on the phone but even if it saves passwords, I
think they want me to use the dedicated GEICO app.  I think it works
quicker and better.)

You may want to use a widely used and trusted multiplatform
 solution  for password databases.

One of choices is a database of Keepass.

For Windows Keepass, for Linux Keepass X2 or better KeepassXC,
For Android e.g Keepass2Android.

Note that for each platform, there is more applications compatible
 at  the database level.

Encrypted Databases are kept local, most of applications support
 database synchronisations.(exchanging dB changes) and various
 ways of remote access.

I agree that's what micky ought to do, but he's explicitly said he doesn't
want that. Personally, I use enpass. It has much better browser integration
on the PC than Keepass.

I need my passwords in Win, Linux and Android, in browsers and
 many other  apps, professionally and personally.

So how do you get Keepass working in the browser on Linux? 

I used Keepass for two years before I got fed up with it's limitations and
bought enpass.

You may not read my first reply properly. 
I was writing about  Keepass database compatible  applications,
 which I use many years. 

I do not hit limitations, rather time by time I start to use a
 feature I was not aware of or familiar with before.

I  need not nor want autofilling.

I use macro and windows title  based configurable obfuscated
 autotype triggered  by a hotkey combination.

E.g.: on a password change page or window, I can trigger by
 Autotype hotkey a macro that sets a new password,  generated
 according to a predefined pattern or character requirements.

It is handy, as I use a lot of passwords with often very strict
 requirements, changed every 2 or 3 months.

I misunderstood what wrote, I thought you said you used in a browser. 

Fair enough. I like having my login credentials handy in a browser as most
are for websites.

I use it in browsers a lot.

But at OS level, not specifically integrated to browsers aside of
 the global Autotype hotkey, which provides specific  credentials
 based on window title.

I have plugins for keepass for firefox and chrome on linux and windows.
On android I have to copy from keepass app/paste into browser.

There was Keefox, but not sure if  it is still used.

I'm using Kee By Luckyrat (on desktop, I don't use firefox on android)

If you're not bothered about security, just save it as a note. You have a
note taking app on your phone, right?
