Yup. Like Apple.

I'm not quite sure what mean you there, but I'm on my 2nd iPad and
overall it's a very good experience. If there was a cheap (~£200)
iPhone, I'd buy it.

Maybe there are two types of people - those who like Apple stuff and
those who don't?

I was new to Android when I bought a Nexus 10 tablet a couple of years
ago, but had little difficulty in finding my way around it. I
subsequently bought an Android phone (the Moto G 2nd Gen dual SIM) which
behaves in much the same way, apart from the extra functions needed by a
phone.

But my wife has got an iPad Mini (not the latest sort) and I struggle to
find my way around that! For example, with Android, there are 3 icons at
the bottom, the right-hand one of which displays all open apps and lets
you switch from one to another or turn off any you've finished with. How
the hell do you do that on Apple devices?

Oh, I manage fine with both, but Apple have got their updates done right.

Double-tap the home button.

Thanks! I knew there *must* be a way, but I had never found it. Now I
look again, it *is* in the user manual - but not very prominently.

Judging by the number of app screens to flick through when doing that (I
just found about 40 open!) it's obvious that my wife doesn't know how to
do it - and it's her device!

You know it's not really necessary? iOS and Android are extremely
efficient in managing memory resources, so it doesn't really matter if
you have 40 apps 'open'. The OS will swap out dormant apps for ones
which are active more efficiently that having to open apps from scratch
each time.

I only ever do this for apps that are misbehaving.

But it's still useful to be able to flick between recent apps (the
equivalent of Alt/Tab on a PC) rather than having to find them again on
one of the home screens. And I make a habit of turning off apps I'm not
actively using in the (maybe forlorn) hope that this will conserve
battery power.

Yes, use it all the time for that.
