Hi All, We just had to run our third Li battery pack off to recycling due to the battery swelling. THis last one actually cracked the case. So I am thing that I will build her a NiMH pack that I can remove the batteries and charge them on NiMH friendly charger. Two questions: 1) Am I right that the charging circuitry is in the tablet not he battery pack? 2) Am I correct that I I need to do is provide a regulated 5 volt souse? Many thanks, -T

That depends on the tablet. But at least some kind of protection circuitry is part of the battery pack. > 2) Am I correct that I I need to do is provide > a regulated 5 volt souse? Yes, the tablet may work with regulated 5V. However some Android devices don't work with a LiIon battery present. I had this issue with an old "Archos 35 Home Connect" (<https://arnowelzel.de/en/android-on-a-clock-radio>). The battery once didn't work any longer and I decided to remove the battery and use the device with external power only since the device was stationary anyway. However that didn't work. Without a battery connected the device didn't even power on even with external power provided. -- Arno Welzel https://arnowelzel.de
