Seems users only see the received time instead of the sent time. I'm using Android 4.4.4 so there is no App Ops settings page. https://hiya.com/faq/android Expand "Why can't I block messages?" Looks like Google just cannot restrain themself from screwing up SMS-related features in their Android OS. So I'm not surprised that they show only the received time for a text instead of or omit the sent time. <rant> I use HiYa (aka Whitepages Caller ID) which helps to block spam/scam calls. A similar app is TrueCaller but I dislike that one because not only is it adware but it is was specifically designed to be 3rd party adware (advertizers can pay TrueCaller to have their ads displayed in that app); see https://www.truecaller.com/ads. You can't even buy a license to the app to get rid of the ads because they know they won't make much, have to do too much management, and monetizing their app by using ads is easier and more profitable. Alas, monetizing of apps is pandemic at the Google Play store. Tough to find ad-free free apps there. Both [used to] advertize that they can block spam texts. Well, not after Android 4.3 due to Google's changes. I'd have to use a different SMS client to use its own features regarding spam filtering. </rant> Rather than use another app, as mentioned in the first link, a possible cause of the problem is explained at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwmtelHmhSc I rarely text and typically it is a very short 1 or 2 message conversation. As a consequence, I have not noticed the out-of-order text threading or even bothered to notice the timestamp on them. However, I *do* have the automatic date and time setting enabled. I don't remember changing that when I got the phone so it might be the default setting on mine (Samsung Galaxy Core Prime); however, I did so much tweaking when I got the phone that it was probably a setting that made sense to me to enable. Also, I don't use the SMS app bundled in Android. Instead I use Google's Hangout app for both texts (Hangouts steals away the SMS functions so the standard SMS app is void) and also for wi-fi phone calls (after installing the companion Hangouts Dialer app and because I already had a Google Voice account). I don't have any texts still listed in Hangouts (I clear out the garbage pretty quick on my phone) so I cannot check right now but I've just read that if you long-tap a text that a details pane shows up. The details will show both the sent and received times for a text. So using an SMS app other than the standard one might give you more details about a text.
