Do you play from local files (i.e. on the Android device itself) or
from WiFi-connected remote files?

If the latter, it may be interference between the frequencies used by
WiFi and those used by Bluetooth or/and some problem with the WiFi/
Bluetooth controllers in your device.

WiFi 802.11b/g/n uses the same 2.4 Ghz bands (2.4 - 2.485 Ghz) as
Bluetooth, so if either end of your WiFi connection is 802.11b/g/n (or
it's configured that way), it may interfere with Bluetooth.

On my (Windows 8.1) laptop, I had a situation with effects similar to
yours (except for the volume related problem). While I had (only)
802.11b/g/n at the (old(er)) router side, i.e. likely the
first/interference problem, I could solve my problems by using an extra
Bluetooth USB-dongle instead of the internal Bluetooth controller. Of
course that solution is of no help in your case, because - AFAIK - it is
not possible to add such a dongle to an Android device.

So all-in-all no real help, but perhaps some areas to investigate.
