  And, at least for me, it also does not give any visible information
about *upcoming* actions. It only shows the arrow 'in' the road, but for
example there's no panel with an arrow which indicates to turn left in
500 meters.

  Also it does not give map updates. You can re-download maps, but
there's no indication whether or not these maps are newer than the ones
you had.

  But indeed, the expired app still provides some minimal functionality.
That is why I keep it on my device in case my other - mainly OSM-based
- apps fail me (i.e. some road is not on the OSM map(s)).
