This one's probably apocryphal: crematoriums (crematoria) are often 
built out in the country. The road leading to one was, naturally enough, 
called Crematorium Road. But when the town nearby grew, and houses 
started to be built at the other end of it, but the residents didn't 
like having that as their address. So it was renamed Burnham Drive ...
