(Google can, I understand, store a track too - not sure how far in

It'd be interesting to have a comparison of these (Google Maps,
Co-Pilot, Osmand, Ski Tracks, others ...) - how wide is the track they 
save (i. e. how far off it can you go, where there's no coverage, before 
they fail)? Or do they store an area rather than a track (if so how big 
an area)? Or what other system?
