Why is Gnus no. 30 and no. 7? Different versions?

Student is having a `meeting' with the careers councillor.
Careers man; "I see that you have entered `politics' as your intended career,
why is that?"
Student: "I'm glad you asked that question"

It's pretty cool to see "old school" tin as the number two newsagent on
this group. Rich, I see you use it - that's probably why. But it's
still cool. Piaohong.whatever is probably me - that's an Android
newsreader I use on my tablets. It's not SLRN, but it's not bad,
either. I think it's called "NewsReader" and it's got free and paid
versions.

Yep, it's my newsreader. Learned its keyboard mappings years ago
(approaching 20 some years ago now) and so changing to something else
involves a lot of unlearning built in muscle memory. Since it still
works, and works just fine, and usenet is supposed to be text anyway,
why change to something else.

And, being text/console, it runs inside a screen session (with about 14
other text sessions for other stuff) that I simply reconnect to from
whichever machine/location I'm accessing it from at the moment.

Those are all great reasons. I've just installed it and will have to
give it a try on this here Linux box.

Actually, one of the things I like about Usenet is that if you get bored
or itchy for a new 'experience' you can try one of dozens of readers,
just for fun. I've used Alpine, SLRN, Knode, Pan, and some other old
ones I didn't like much like xnews and maybe some others. It's still
just Usenet.

used on `alt.ffolklore.computers' G2 is either first or second on the list.
on `comp.misc' , my failing eyesight does not show it at all.
(G2 is, AFAIK, GoogleGroups)
