Once IPv6 takes over, you won't need any service in between. Everybody
just needs to run a daemon (aka "app") on their edge device and form
whatever groups they need.

Encryption and authentication will be tricky. Hand-delivering public
keys won't scale so you will need a trusted external party. I can't see
a better long-term choice but the government.
