My PostScript code has multiple instances of mark ... /ANN pdfmark I've just learnt that if Adobe Distiller is set to PDF/X-3:2002 (rather than my usual 'High Quality Print'), that fails. Ouch! > <PDFX ISO="15930-3:2002" COMPLIANT="false"> ... [Violation] Annotations were found inside the BleedBox, TrimBox, or ArtBox on the following pages: ... This document does not pass PDF/X-3:2002 compliance checks. Is there any way to detect within the PostScript if pdfmark /ANN is allowed? So that the PostScript will do it if it won't cause a failure, and won't if it will?

Thank you. That seems to have worked. Comments on (and improvements to) the following would welcomed.
/SuppressANN
/currentdistillerparams where
{
pop currentdistillerparams /CheckCompliance 2 copy known {get false exch {dup /PDFX1a:2001 eq exch /PDFX3:2002 eq or or} forall} {pop pop false} ifelse
currentdistillerparams /PDFX1aCheck 2 copy known {get or} {pop pop} ifelse
currentdistillerparams /PDFX3Check 2 copy known {get or} {pop pop} ifelse
} {false} ifelse def % /SuppressANN
/pdfmark where
{
pop /pdfmark {dup /ANN eq SuppressANN and {cleartomark} {pdfmark} ifelse} bind def
}
{
/globaldict where {pop globaldict} {userdict} ifelse
/pdfmark /cleartomark load put
} ifelse % /pdfmark where
