Well, I never said my discription and the German "zum Kotzen" should be taken "only" in a physical way. In fact in German the sentense is also mostly used figuratively. But even if I had said or ment that, quod non, that does not make my [1] remark less strong and true. btw, this "quod non" is also just Latin, and not used "as in English". -- Evertjan. Utter nonsense. All words, all phrases, all sentences take their meaning from how people use them. Regardless of what it meant to ancient Romans, or how speakers of German or other languages use the phrase, when used by English speakers, "ad nauseum" has the meaning they assign to it. Otherwise communication is impossible. As a native speaker of English, one fairly widely read and one with a reasonably strong vocabulary, I can confirm that the definition supplied in Wikipedia is an accurate representation of how the phrase is used in English. Moreover, as the one who introduced "ad nauseum" to this conversation, I can tell you that this is how I intended it. -- Scott

AIUI, he wants to access on *his* site B a *foreign* resource A without its author’s knowledge, meaning that the foreign resource does not have this header field set, and the original author cannot be convinced to have it set. If it had it set, he would not have the SOP problem, and would not look for alternatives, in the first place. -- PointedEars FAQ: <http://PointedEars.de/faq> | SVN: <http://PointedEars.de/wsvn/> Twitter: @PointedEars2 | ES Matrix: <http://PointedEars.de/es-matrix> Please do not cc me. / Bitte keine Kopien per E-Mail.

But it only works if >all three files are on the same server: I think that this is not a JavaScript matter, since (a) JavaScript is not the only language which a browser can use, (b) Browsers are not the only possible hosts for JavaScript. You should ignore that which is spouted here by the inadequately- educated about copyright. Copyright requires some sort of creative effort in the part of the originator of the work, be it a person or a corporate body; and a breach of copyright occurs when the product of that creative work is copied with retention of the substance of that creativity. You have the right to make a creatively-composed bitmap image of yourself and friends, and you will then hold the copyright. That copyright will apply to conversions of the image into GIF, JPEG, PNG, etc. (and into ink-on-paper); but it will not apply to the result of doing a binary sort of a digital form - even though, for a sufficiently-high resulution image, the result of the sort will be almost always unique among binary files in general and sorts-of-images in particular. Additionally, while (to the best of my understanding) Copyright laws are similar across most of the world, it is not safe to assume that they are equivalent in all jurisdictions. Have you considered the possibility or otherwise of doing what you want in a .HTA page? Or in Windows Script[ing] Host? I have not, to any significant extent. -- (c) John Stockton, Surrey, UK. ¬@merlyn.demon.co.uk Turnpike v6.05 MIME. Merlyn Web Site < > - FAQish topics, acronyms, & links.
