Quite so, Gene, you may know and want to,
but I don't want to discuss 
the proper [in your eyes proper] working of invalid code.

Methinks the specs disalowance of multiple element.id-s with the same value 
is not only required but logical.

Any id should be unique.

There are so many ways to collect multiple html-elements into a collection 
without needing non-unique id-s.
