Quite true - I've had that experience in the perl ng. However:

What helps
==========

Giving *complete* details of what has been tried, what is wanted, and
what has been used to try to achieve the goal. Including saying which
OS, which browser(s), and which editor(s) have been used. And what
results have been observed. Giving, in other words, a proper idea of
the context.

Using a proper newsreader and avoiding google groups at all costs also
helps.

What doesn't help
=================

Childish comments from PointyHead about there being "no javascript" and
whinges about attribution lines.
