Hello,

I would like to create an addon of my Java application for high-performance clusters. I'm working with OpenMPI for a long time, so I can use the OpenMPI Java addon but I have found this publication

https://pdfs.semanticscholar.org/2afc/9c748999358819b1342d9f2b8404816f2d6b.pdf

So did anybody works with this native Java NIO framework? Does there exist any Maven package or anything else? So can you send me some helpful information for development? I found the publication only.

Thx

Phil

Not quite sure what you're asking. Java NIO itself is of course part of
the JDK (since Java 1.4), so you don't need to download any additional
bundles to make use of this "framework". Java NIO tutorials abound on
the internet.

With regard to HPC, I don't know if there is (or ever was) a publicly
available implementation of MPJava. However, if you're looking for
alternatives to OpenMPI, then MPJ/Ibis and MPJ Express are still active
projects.

You might want to look at this paper by Taboada et al.: "Java for High
Performance Computing: Assessment of Current Research and Practice",
which can be found at
http://gac.udc.es/~gltaboada/papers/taboada_pppj09.pdf It's a bit old
now, from 2009, but still useful.

Thanks for the link. I'm evaluating tools for a high-performance scalability system.
Form C I know MPI, so I'm searching for a framework which implements the MPI structure and
I don't want to write the code myself for the MPI specification with the Java NIO package.
I hope for a full working framework which implements MPI with Java NIO.

Thanks

Phil

The nio can do what the io does only faster? I've only used java.nio.channels.FileChannel for copying files. I set up a system for one machine to send String messages back and forth to multiple other machines just using java.net.socket, passing getInputStream() to java.io.InputStreamReader wrapped in a java.io.BufferedReader.
