Java NIO itself is of course part of the JDK (since Java 1.4), so you don't need to download any additional bundles to make use of this "framework". Java NIO tutorials abound on the internet. With regard to HPC, I don't know if there is (or ever was) a publicly available implementation of MPJava. However, if you're looking for alternatives to OpenMPI, then MPJ/Ibis and MPJ Express are still active projects. You might want to look at this paper by Taboada et al.: "Java for High Performance Computing: Assessment of Current Research and Practice", which can be found at http://gac.udc.es/~gltaboada/papers/taboada_pppj09.pdf It's a bit old now, from 2009, but still useful. -- Sebastian
