#51530 — 2048 game

From"Ed" <invalid@nospam.com>

Subject2048 game
Message-ID<nsq2gr$15im$1@gioia.aioe.org>
An acquaintance alerted me to this simple but addictive game
http://rosettacode.org/wiki/2048

There's no Forth entry (for anyone that wants a challenge)
however there is a port of the excellent XPL0 implementation here:
http://dxforth.netbay.com.au/index.html#samples

Requires MS-DOS

Oh neat. I played the original Javascript version obsessively for
weeks. I thought about writing a Forth version but decided that using
text mode would be nowhere near as nice as the JS graphic version with
its sliding block animations. I coded the "15" sliding block puzzle
instead and posted the code on clf a while back.

Text mode doesn't mean you can't use color to advantage

Nice! I just looked at the Forth code too. You might as well post to
Rosetta...

I dimly remember seeing a Forth implementation of this game somewhere.
Either here, or some students of my stack-based languages course did
it as a course project (but did not put it up on the course projects
web page (they are not required to).
