My MFX included an assembler. I did reorder the source-code instructions significantly to maximize parallelization --- but I did so in a manner that would guarantee that the program did the same thing as if the instructions were executed sequentially in the same order that they appeared in the source-code. Eliminating instructions is an extremely bad idea --- this assumes that the programmer is an idiot to writes needless instructions --- there are only two people in the world who know how to program in MFX assembly (myself and my coworker), neither of whom are idiots (in my estimation, although I'm obviously biased on the matter).
