I've generaly had a task that 'reads' the keyboard or mouse and injects events, into an object tree that represents the display heirachry. Last one I did I used my own implamentation of Sarah Thomas's C++ sig/slots stuff, I fixed a few bugs and simplified her design somewhat, plus added a few missing features. That worked quite well, and I was thinking of implamenting something similar in Forth for the GUI stuff this time. Game GUI's don't general use this approach ! I've done several game ui's that actually consist of 'live' animation objects and the collision system is how user input if feed into the system. But underneath that there was still the tasks that read the keyboard map or the mouse serial port data and cooked it into a collision event. Chris
