The "ignore them and they'll go away" suggestion applies mainly to the cases where legal recourse is not available or considered. If Jacob Navia is willing to resort to legal means then I believe he certainly will be able to make a good slander/libel case, no matter what jurisdiction applies, and that every regular will support him. And, in regards to Malcolm's comment about a.r.r-c, the thing is, we all know that alt.* is a sewer (and those of us who enjoy posting there understand that well going in), and, for that matter, anything outside of comp.* is suspect as well - those groups are mostly about people BS'ing each other rather than people discussing rationally discussing things and (sometimes) actually trying to help each other. But, the point is, CLC is unique (within my experience) in being in the comp.* hierarchy and yet being as stupid and inward looking as, say, talk.abortion. -- Those on the right constantly remind us that America is not a democracy; now they claim that Obama is a threat to democracy.

The only criticism that you systematicaly got from the regulars was due to your insistence in spamming the group with gratuituous plugs to your compiler, which you certainly admit that were excessive and unwarranted. Other than the outcry against the spam you kept posting, you are exactly as any other regular that posts here: no more, no less. In fact, in spite of your history of spamming the group, you are still a respected user of this group, and certainly the regulars here support you in your C container library project. Therefore, I don't know where you get all this victimization. > But receiving a post from "Adolph Hitler" full of personal insults is a > progression in the level of this type of attacks. > > What was even more disgusting is the silence that ensued, as if having a > fascist scream its shit all over the place was something absolutely > normal. > > This silence is approval, even if they now say that they "kill filed" > this troll etc. What you interpret as being a silence of approval is actually the silence of "someone left the loony bin open again. pay no attention and they'll go away". You should be well aware that this sort of characters feed off attention and get their smug satisfaction, their schadenfreude, from seeing their targets react exactly like you are reacting right now. > I do not mind people getting emotional but there are some limits or > aren't any at all? ANYTHING can be said here? Of course not. This is comp.lang.c. If it isn't about C then people tend not to discuss it. You certainly know this by now. Rui Maciel

So jacob navia thinks that I approve of him, despite, or even because of, having him killfiled for being an illogical crank for years. That pretty much proves he's an illogical crank! Usenet is a real part of people's lifes as much as facebook and twitter is. Although usenet is much less popular, the only detail that is actually different is the technology behind it and how the medium is implemented and managed, and these tech-related details are irrelevant. > People have died as a result of trolling Could you please point out one case where someone died due to being trolled? Oh, and the lurkers (noted by absence). Oh, and the troll, of course. The witch-hunters fly their flags and want "justice", for ... ? What is "justice?". Don't worry your ugly little heads about that now, because before you can even entertain such thought, you have to have a "judicial system"? Isn't that the rub! As laughable as "innocent until proven guilty"!. The "healing" evangelists, had "time on their side".. but that was in the 1950's. But isn't witch-burning still the basis of all "law"? And what about those who are "lost in time", while you keep on with your "witch hunts"?

Oh finally, now I am enlightened. I thought it was just the season. Good to know that I am not a witch. The only worse thing, apparently, would to be A FUCKING MORON. It is one thing to say something, it is another to be A FUCKING MORON. For instance, leaves are raked into piles in the season of this moon that is now, but why? Why do your kids rake up the leaves into piles and then thrust themselves into it and are not afraid of the spiders? Answer: because the spiders are afraid of them. YOU are afraid of the spiders. And I know why.

Ha! "Agnos" has "grown up" some to "mail" status? When did USENET become like mail? Are you being "coy"? Are you a "lawyer"? Are those radio tolls going active on your command? Yes, I drive my corvette between them at over 100 miles an hour (every day). It's my Corvette, but your highway? I do it every day (OK, I rarely have to drive anywhere anymore, but when I do, I set the cruise control and that is at 95, but sometimes I drive it faster). (Pfft, I was being patronizing in suggesting such). Hey, read it and weap, it is my assessment. Some will take it personally, and, indeed, try to use it against me, personally; as if USENET was "real", or "if 'we' can make USENET "real", imagine how good it could be for us predators. We'd Trump fat old women on the net by a wide margin!". > > I suggest you do likewise. Or else what? The decoder ring goes? The flag burns? "What it stands for does"? What does your high-on-whatever flag stand for? Lucky for you, you can say it the the whole world. What does your flag stand for? While you are writing about your flag on the internet, I am having flag-burning events? Well, it's not for you low-class idiots, it's just for "middle-class American people". I guess you are out if you are not in, huh. Doesn't that suck.
